TUPI CASTLE SQUARE

If you ever find yourself wandering near Elephant & Castle in London, there’s one spot you don’t want to pass by-TUPI CASTLE SQUARE. Located at 2 Castle Square, this vibrant gem blends South American flair with laid-back European charm in a way that feels effortlessly cool yet deeply intentional. The space gives off modern, artsy vibes with a warm community feel, and it’s as much about the experience as it is about the food.

TUPI CASTLE SQUARE makes a strong first impression with its outdoor seating area, perfect for people-watching while you sip a cocktail or dive into brunch. The crowd? Family-friendly, relaxed, and always buzzing-especially during lunch hours and weekend brunch. Inside, you’re greeted with a contemporary interior, soft lighting, a welcoming bar, and that rare London find: genuinely warm hospitality.

Let’s talk food-because that’s where TUPI shines brightest. Whether you’re rolling in for a lazy breakfast, craving a mid-day brunch, or seeking a full-blown dinner with friends, the menu feels curated for variety without losing authenticity. The kitchen leans toward South American-inspired dishes but with a cosmopolitan twist, offering up everything from fluffy pancakes to smoky grilled meats, veggie-packed plates, and indulgent desserts. Vegetarian options aren’t just an afterthought-they’re flavorful, filling, and thoughtfully prepared.

If you're a cocktail enthusiast, you’ll appreciate the bar’s line-up. TUPI serves creative concoctions alongside classics, and there's no shortage of wine or beer to pair with your meal. Their happy-hour drinks have a bit of a reputation too-worth timing your visit to take advantage of the buzz (and the savings). For coffee lovers, the brew here is strong and smooth, making it a solid stop even if you're just after a caffeine fix.

Now, the table service here is another detail that sets TUPI CASTLE SQUARE apart. The staff are quick, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. You never feel rushed, which makes it a perfect spot whether you’re catching up with friends, on a solo work lunch (yes, they have reliable Wi-Fi), or planning a more intimate evening out. There’s also a toilet on-site-convenient and often overlooked in reviews but always appreciated.

TUPI’s versatility is what really impresses. It manages to be a daytime hangout, an evening dining destination, and a late-night bite spot-all rolled into one. The restaurant offers takeaway and delivery if you’re in the mood to stay in, but trust me, the vibe is best experienced in person. That said, their catering services are also worth noting for events or work gatherings, as the team handles large orders efficiently without compromising on quality.

While the Elephant & Castle area is rapidly developing and packed with eateries trying to stand out, TUPI CASTLE SQUARE succeeds by staying authentic. It’s not over-designed, not trying too hard-just delivering good food, great drinks, and a setting you’ll want to come back to. It's the kind of place that works for just about any occasion, from casual catch-ups to spontaneous brunches to curated dinners. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is one spot in SE17 that earns its place on your must-visit list.

I highly recommend this place, it was a cute and cosy restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. We ordered some salt and pepper squid which was fantastic, the avocado and lime dipping sauce was AMAZING! goes perfectly with the tender squid. My partner ordered a bravette steak with salsa verde which was done really well too. The best part was my fish stew, it was the BEST stew I had in a very long time and the soup was soo deep and rich but not sickly, spicy and with a tang, we finish the whole thing, the portion was huge too, really worth the money! One thing maybe could improve is the freshness of some mussels, didn’t taste as fresh as majority of them. But overall if you’re nearby it’s a worthy place to visit for food!

My partner and I had a lovely brunch here on a Saturday. We shared a couple of vegetarian dishes - Huevos Rancheros with Tomatoes and Peppers in a Chilli Sauce with Black Beans, Pico de Gallo, Poached Eggs, Avocado and Sourdough and Sweet Potato Rosti with Avocado, Poached Eggs and Hollandaise. Both were delicious. We sat outside overlooking Castle Square. The interiors are contemporary. The food has a Brazilian vibe - South American with some European influences. If you want booze with your brunch, they have a bottomless brunch option at the weekends. I'd definitely go back.
